Southern Africa Signature Journey
Trip Summary
Southern Africa is a region defined by dramatic contrasts and unforgettable experiences — from cosmopolitan coastlines to wildlife-rich savannahs and one of the world’s greatest natural wonders. This 9-day journey brings together three of the region’s most iconic destinations: Cape Town, the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve in the Greater Kruger region, and Victoria Falls (Zambia), each offering its own distinct rhythm, landscape, and sense of wonder.

Explore its vibrant neighbourhoods, world-class cuisine, and the breathtaking beauty of Table Mountain and the Cape Peninsula. Continue to the Timbavati, one of the most exclusive reserves in the Greater Kruger ecosystem, where expert guides and trackers bring you close to the Big Five in a setting defined by exceptional hospitality, intimate safari experiences, and rich wildlife diversity.

Guided Tour of Victoria Falls – “The Smoke That Thunders”
Today you will enjoy a guided tour of Victoria Falls, one of Africa’s greatest natural wonders and one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world. Fed by the mighty Zambezi River, the Falls form a dramatic curtain of water that spans 1.7 km, creating mist, rainbows, and a thunderous roar that can be felt long before it is seen. Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya — “the Smoke That Thunders” — this is a highlight of any Southern Africa journey.
Your guided experience takes you along a scenic rainforest pathway offering a series of unforgettable viewpoints. Those prepared for the refreshing spray will be rewarded with dramatic panoramas of the Main Falls, the Eastern Cataract, and the swirling Boiling Pot below. A particularly iconic vantage point is the Knife-Edge Bridge, where the full power and beauty of the Falls can be appreciated at close range.
Seasonal Water Levels
The Falls change dramatically throughout the year, offering a different experience in every season:
- March–April (Peak Flood): The Falls are at their most powerful, with towering spray and thunderous sound.
- May–August: Excellent visibility with strong flow and dramatic viewpoints.
- September–December (Low Water): The rock face becomes more visible, and in some sections the Falls reduce to narrow streams — offering a unique geological perspective.
Important Note
During low-water months (typically November–December), guests may enjoy superior viewing from the Zimbabwean side. Your guide will advise the best option on the day.
